About Us
Our group was created in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. We are five people who share a passion for literature and creative writing. Last year, when the lockdowns were enforced, we found ourselves stuck in our homes with nothing to do. This project helped us through a rough time, and we hope it’ll help you too.
Who are we?
We are a group of five people from London who love to write. We met at a creative writing group which we’ve been sharing for over five years. Our activities consisted of reading and commenting on books and writing according to the given guidelines. We also used to read our work in front of the group and received feedback.
But in 2020, the pandemic stroke and we were forced to stay at home. No reading group, no guidelines, and no sharing. We started to meet online, but the number of attendees was slowly declining. That’s why the five of us got together and started this project. If the only way to meet was through the Internet, why not send our message to more people? Why not expand our circle of colleagues and friends?
That’s when Writerlink was born. We decided to create a blog where to share our experience in creative writing. Thus, we can also learn from other people and their resources.
Our vision
Our world is advancing in many aspects. But this development seems to be concentrated in a few sectors. The IT industry is growing exponentially, and new job positions are being created while others become obsolete.
We want to remind people that other aspects of life are worth paying attention to. Life is not only about making money and getting the latest iPhone. We want to create a website that cares about art in all its forms, especially literature.
Our mission
People who love writing are special. We are willing to find space in our busy routines, sit down before the computer and forget about the world.
We can spend hours on a book whether at home, in the park or on the bus. We’ve stayed up all night trying to finish a short story before the deadline of a contest.
And this blog is made by writers to writers. We want to find people that share the same passion for books, literature, and art.
In this space, you’ll find:
- Writing tips
- Creative writing exercises
- Character creation
- Short story writing
- Novel writing
- A variety of genres
- Information on contests
- Information on workshops
Creative writing classes
We’ve been reading and writing since childhood. Also, we’ve been in the editorial world for over five years. We can connect you to the best writing lessons, including plot formation, novels, short stories, romantic fiction, science fiction, and narrative.
We have many contacts and can help you find the right environment for you to develop your skills. We are also happy to receive suggestions, content, and new workshops.
Writing contests
You are welcome to participate in our monthly contests: ‘Say it all in 500 words’ and ‘See it and write it’. These are the best way to practice the tools that you get from your classes and other resources. Participants are invited to use the material they find on the blog.
We also publish notices about external contests. Here you can find national and international writing contests for all genres and writers.
Thus, we want to create an environment where authors can learn from each other, backed by their community.
What to expect from this blog
All in all, writing is about putting yourself out there. While this may not be easy at first, it can be done. Like Pablo Picasso said: ‘Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working’. This is the perfect place where writers can come and ‘work’. Follow our entries to find writing tips, advice, and resources.
