Shelagh Nugent has had short stories published in Woman, Woman's Own, Take a Break, Chat, That's Life, Australian Woman's Weekly and QWF. Her articles have appeared in The Puzzler Magazine, The Wirral Journal, The Liverpool Journal, Mensa Magazine, Writers' Forum, Lexikon and The New Writer. She is on the editorial staff of The New Writer, where she supplies a markets column.

Her 'gift book' 'Hot Tips for the Reluctant Housewife' was published by Nightingale Press and 'Taking to the Waterways' has just been published by Ignotus Press. She has also written a 'tips' booklet about increasing your chances of winning writing competitions.

She was the founder of Cherrybite Publications, which published Peninsular Short Story Magazine, Reach Poetry Magazine, Eclipse Poetry Magazine, Writers' Bulletin and Competitions Bulletin. She was the editor of Peninsular, Reach and Writers' Bulletin, but has recently retired from the punishing deadlines involved in order to have more time for her own writing.

Stephen Beattie has been writing poetry for the past five years.

He has had work published in both the small press, Libertine magazine and Literal Translations (USA) ,and anthologies, A pride of Lines, Cool And Quirky and The Creative Touch.

He has had poems broadcast on BBC Radio Two and BBC local radio.

He was the winner of the Kings Lyn 2007 open poetry competition and has received commendations in several national poetry competitions.

He runs poetry workshops on behalf of Sefton Arts Council. He is the secretary of Southport Writers Circle and regularly performs his work at local open mic evenings.


Stephen believes that anyone who has a love of words can become a poet.
