Spring so they say is when a young man's thoughts turn to ... well never mind that, for our Spring Fever poetry competition we want to know what this most looked for of seasons means to YOU!)

Is it the green growing love of a new relationship? The joy of a new world re-awakening? The wonder in the timeless cycle of birth, death and rebirth?

Whatever aspect of spring causes you to wax feverishly lyrical we want to hear it!

Not only that, we want you to illustrate your poem with either a photograph or other graphic of your own or one from our site gallery. (Browse gallery)

The judge will take into consideration how well your poem illustrates the graphic so choose carefully!

All our site photographs can be seen in our competition Gallery and can be added to your poem when you submit your entry. (Browse gallery)

If using your own photograph, you will be given the opportunity to upload when submitting your entry.

Spring Fever is limited to 100 entries!

To be sure of a place register now and then submit your entry before the closing date, 21st March, 2011.

You will not be allowed to forget as we will send out a reminder approximately 1 week before the closing date!

Here's what you do

Register by clicking the PayPal button. The entry fee is £5.00 or send a sterling cheque for £5.00 to: Writelink, 7 Melbourne Road, Newbold, Coleorton, Leicestershire. LE67 8JH.

Once registration has been completed you will be given the choice of submitting your poem either immediately or at a later date. Ask the world to come and vote and comment on your poem! (Don′t worry, we make it easy for you to do that!)

Meet our judge Jay Smedley

Jay Smedley 2011 Spring Fever online poetry contest judge

Jay is an avid supporter of writing competitions; many successes over the years in short story and poetry competitions, and has been published in several anthologies, her favourite being 'Fox in the Heather' which followed a weekend of events facilitated by John Fox in Glasgow.

Believes passionately in poetry for therapy - everyone has a poem in them somewhere when they speak from the heart.

Lives in rural Lincolnshire surrounded by cadging pheasants and other wild friends.
